East Meets West Showdown in Iowa

Riding the momentum of back-to-back NASCAR K&N Pro Series East top-10 finishes, 16-year-old Brodie Kostecki will make his third career Iowa Speedway start this Saturday in the Casey’s General Stores 150 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West combination event.

Kostecki made two of his three K&N appearances in 2013 at Iowa Speedway. Most of the tracks he has ventured to in his first full season of 2014 were his first-time experiences at those facilities. This time around, the native Australian who now calls Mooresville, North Carolina home has plenty of track time at the .875-mile to rely on as he chases another strong finish to get back into the hunt for the K&N East Rookie of the Year title.

“It was great to get that experience at Iowa last year, but now we’re ready to contend up front in this year’s race there,” said Kostecki.  “So far this year, we’ve fought to find a good balance on the car.  Having a notebook from Iowa last year should get us in the ballpark to be close to where we need to be when we unload at the track Saturday.  The Arcoplate guys have been working really hard in the shop since our eighth-place run at Richmond and I think we should be better this time around.”

Kostecki will be racing at Iowa with new Team Arcoplate Racing crew chief Walter Giles atop the pit box.  Giles comes to the Kostecki team with engineer and crew chief experience in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series.

“Walter has been around the sport a long time and he has worked with some great racecar drivers and championship race teams,” said Kostecki.  “He’s given our team a new outlook and I couldn’t be more excited to work with him for the first time at the track this weekend.”

IN THE STANDINGS

Kostecki enters Iowa Speedway 10th in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points, just 48 points behind leader Ben Rhodes.  Brodie is currently fifth in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.
