Lavar Scott Returns From Daytona To Race In Trenton Indoor Dirt Nationals With His Older Brother Wayne

Lavar Scott of Carney’s Point, N.J. has returned to his home state after competing at the Daytona International Speedway on Friday night in the NASCAR ARCA 200. This Friday and Saturday he’ll compete in the East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals presented by BELFOR Property Restorations inside Trenton’s CURE Insurance Arena in hopes of a far happier ending.

In a position to win the 200-mile event on the 2 1/2-mile Super Speedway in Daytona, Scott was involved in a multi-car tangle on the backstretch on the final lap. It marked the second consecutive year Scott would put himself in position to win at the historical speedway. In 2023, he finished fourth in a photo finish.

A member of the NASCAR Driver for Diversity Program, Scott will be racing full-time on the NASCAR ARCA circuit this year. While he has hopes of racing in the Daytona 500 one day, this weekend, however, his focus will be on a much different type race car on a far smaller speedway on a dirt track!

In Trenton, the 19-year-old will be returning to his racing roots driving his own 600cc wingless Sprint. He’ll be competing on a far less banked, 1/10th mile clay oval built inside the CURE Insurance area this past week for the event.

A year ago, Lavar followed up his top five finish in the Daytona race by attending the Trenton race as a member of his older brother Wayne’s pit crew. But after Friday’s events were completed, Lavar was offered and accepted a ride and attempted to start at the rear of Saturday’s E-Main in an attempt of advancing each letter to make the A-Main.

Driving a car owned by Cameron Bellinger he had never sat in before, Lavar advanced from 11th to fifth but failed by one spot to advance. At that point, he decided he would not work from behind this year and began plans to get his own car ready which he’ll drive this weekend.

Wayne, who continues to race the 600 Sprints weekly, is also entered for Trenton again this year.   Coming off of a five win season with victories at three different area tracks during the 2023 season, he’s seeking a return to Saturday’s 50 lap  A-Main and a win in Friday’s 25 lap preliminary feature.

During the 2020, East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals, Wayne picked up a victory in the third A-Qualifier on Friday, locking him into Saturday’s A-Main event, unfortunately, he was an early casualty and finished 25th.

After a DNF during his qualifier on Friday night a year ago, Wayne was on a mission come Saturday winning both his D-Main and C-Main before an incident ended his night in the B-Main short of him qualifying for his second main event.

Good seats remain available for this weekend’s event through a link to Ticketmaster at indoorautoracing.com or at the arena box office.

Friday’s doors open at 6 PM with racing at 7 PM. A field of 90 with drivers from six states will compete in qualifying events leading up to a 25-lap feature.

Saturday’s doors open at 4 PM with a special autograph session on the concourse at 5 PM among top competitors. After qualifying events and a DASH among top performers, the 50 lap main event will be held.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or indoorautoracing.com. Tickets are also available daily and on the days of the event at the CURE Insurance Arena box office.

For those who cannot attend, the event will be available on DirtTrackDigest.TV Pay-Per-View for $64.99 for the weekend or $29.99 for Friday and $39.99 for Saturday.
