Turner Scott Motorsports NKNPSE Previews: Iowa Speedway

Full Stable…For the third time this season, Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) will have five cars competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) race at Iowa Speedway. Friday will be a very busy day for TSM, as the team will also have their three full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entries in action at Texas Motor Speedway. TSM will also field three cars in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Iowa Speedway on Saturday.

Combined Event…Turner Scott Motorsports will once again have a full stable of cars at Iowa Speedway. In addition to the full-time entries of Dyne, Kwasniewski and Ruston, Ben Rhodes and Brandon Jones will each make their third start of the 2013 season. This is the first event that the full NKNPSE field will race in conjunction with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West drivers.

Austin Dyne… Dyne and the No. 99 KMC Wheels team head to Iowa Speedway hoping to rebound, after damage from an early-race incident at Bowman Gray Stadium relegated them to a 17th-place finish in the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150. Dyne will return to Iowa Speedway having made two previous starts at the .875-mile oval.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Iowa and getting our KMC Wheels team back on track. I really like the track at Iowa and the style of racing it develops. It’s probably one of the nicest facilities on our tour, and they always have great crowd come out and support us.”

Ben Rhodes… Rhodes last competed for TSM in the NKNPSE race at Richmond International Raceway, where he was forced to retire from the race early after suffering a crack in the oil pan of his No. 41 Alpha Energy Solutions Chevrolet. Rhodes will make his first career start at Iowa Speedway in his third NKNPSE race of 2013.

“I’m really excited about returning to the K&N Series this weekend. I have a lot of fun racing for Turner Scott Motorsports, and the team always prepares great cars for me. We were strong the last time out at Richmond and just ran into some bad luck. I think we can use what we learned there and hopefully translate it into a strong run at Iowa.”

Brandon Jones…After a strong qualifying effort at Richmond International Raceway last month, Jones and his No. 33 Rheem machine were forced to retire early from the event due to a blown motor. Jones is continuing to develop his skills while running full-time in the UARA-Stars series, where last weekend he was running as high as second and came home with a solid fourth-place finish. Jones will be making his first start at the state-of-the-art Iowa Speedway this coming weekend.

“I can’t wait to get back on track in the K&N car this weekend. Unfortunately, we’ve had some tough luck in our couple of starts, but I’m sure it will turn around soon. I have a great group of guys led by Cale [Gale] and I feel like we can get up there and contend for a top 10 or even a top-five finish.”

Dylan Kwasniewski…After starting in the third spot, Kwasniewski was challenging for the race lead throughout much of the NASCAR Hall of Fame 150 until late in the race when Kwasniewski was collected in an accident. Kwasniewski battled back for an impressive second-place finish at the “Madhouse.” Of all the TSM NKNPSE drivers, Kwasniewski has the most experience at Iowa Speedway; he has raced at the track three previous times, earning one win, two top fives and never finishing outside of the top 10.

“Iowa Speedway is one of the K&N East tracks where I have the most experience, so I am looking forward to going back there. In this event last year, I won for the West but finished eighth overall, so I hope to go back and win again this year, this time competing in the East Series.”

Kenzie Ruston…Continuing to impress, Ruston put together another strong run at Bowman Gray Stadium last week. She came from deep in the pack twice throughout the event for a strong fourth-place finish. For the first time this year, Ruston will have a new primary sponsor for this weekend’s event, carrying the colors of Brandt, a long-time TSM partner. Ruston will make her first NKNPSE start at Iowa Speedway this weekend, but she has one previous start at the .875-mile oval, competing in the ARCA Racing Series. TSM will bring a new chassis for Ruston to race in the Casey’s General Store 150.

“I’m really excited to be representing Brandt this weekend at Iowa Speedway. I can’t thank both them and AccuDoc Solution enough for all their support so far this season. I’m really proud of my team for the effort at Bowman Gray, and I am confident that our first win is just around the corner.”
