Brandon Jones Wins at the Tricky Triangle
Brandon Jones pulled out all the tricks to take the checkered flag Sunday morning at Pocono Raceway.
The No. 51 Toyota maintained position in the top 5 for much of the race and inherited the lead after teammate, Christian Eckes got into the wall after making earlier contact on pit road. With 11 laps to go, Jones took the lead.
We had a little contact on pit road. It might have created a rub — I don’t know. They said everything was clear… We could never really get track position. We finally got there and blew a tire,” said Christian Eckes.
Jones held off Sheldon Creed in a fierce closing laps battle after Creed got loose in Turn 2 of the triangular track. Brandon Jones was able to pull away substantially and capture his first NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series win in the No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.
“That was a heck of a battle,” said Jones, a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor who has won twice there. “I know it was fun to watch on TV — it was really fun for me there.”
Creed finished third after Austin Hill passed him in the final turn. Todd Gilliland and Ben Rhodes rounded out the top five. Ross Chastain, Brett Moffitt, Stewart Friesen, Tyler Ankrum and Derek Kraus completed the top 10.
The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series will be back in action at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday, July 11 at 6 p.m. on FS1.
Kyle Busch Dominates in Las Vegas
Kyle Busch took the checkered flag at the Strat 200 in Las Vegas after a dominating performance.
After starting third, Busch took the lead on lap 11 and held off Christian Eckes to win Stage 1 followed by Johnny Sauter, Tyler Ankrum and Austin Hill.
Busch struggled on restarts, but his No. 51 Toyota was great on the long run. Eckes took the lead when the green flag waved on Stage 2. After 15 laps, Busch was able to pull to the rear of Eckes and make a run. He pulled away to get another stage win. Eckes, Chastain, Enfinger and Crafton rounded out the top 5 to earn stage points.
When the green flag waves on Stage 3, Busch maintains the lead ahead of Todd Gilliland. As the laps wound down, the battle for positions heated up. Christian Eckes made contact with the wall after getting a flat right front to bring out a caution. Kyle Busch maintains the lead over Sheldon Creed on after the restart.
With 46 to go, Raphael Lessard and Grant Enfinger made contact with the wall to bring out the caution flag. The battle between Busch and Creed continued to heat up after the restart. They remained side by side with 35 laps to go until Creed got loose and fell to sixth. Busch takes the lead with Sauter in line behind him.
Busch pulled away and maintained a 5.958 second lead over Sauter. Johnny Sauter, Austin Hill, Matt Crafton and Ben Rhodes rounded out the top 5.
“It was the first win for Danny Stockman at KBM, and it’s cool to have him on board. My guys worked their butts off. We unloaded and we really weren’t that close. We worked on it a lot with this new tire, and we got it a lot better."
Friday night's victory was Kyle Busch's seventh win in his last seven starts in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series and his third at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will be back in action for the Ultimate Tailgating 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 14 at 1:30 p.m. on FS1.

Austin Hill Wins in Overtime
Austin Hill took the checkered flag in the Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway to conclude the Gander Outdoor Truck Series regular season.
Hill's second win of the season did not come easy with many drivers fighting for playoff contention. Several drivers were on the bubble or needed a win in order to earn a playoff berth for championship contention.
The Hattori Racing Enterprises No. 16 Toyota was able to bounce back from a speeding penalty and led only 25 laps before celebrating in victory lane. He was able to make a run for the win when the race went into overtime after a failed bump and run with the leaders resulted in a multi-truck wreck. Hill avoided the wreckage and took the lead.
Sheldon Creed finished second for the second consecutive week after a hard-fought battle with the leader. Tyler Dippel, Brett Moffitt and Austin Wayne Self rounded out the top five in the Irish Hills.
Hill's win earns him a spot in the eight driver playoff field. Joining him is Brett Moffitt, Grant Enfinger, Stewart Friesen, Ross Chastain, Matt Crafton, Johnny Sauter and Tyler Ankrum.
The race for the Gander Outdoor Truck Series begins Thursday, August 15, at Bristol Motor Speedway with the UNOH 200 presented by Ohio Logistics and Bush's Beans 150 on FS1.
