Devin Jones to make NASCAR Camping World Truck Debut in 2013

Devin Jones will launch into 2013 with plans to race his #35 VeriStor Chevy Truck during the NASCAR weekend at Martinsville Speedway on April 6. This will be the start of a limited 2013 schedule for Devin Jones Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series.

“I’m excited to embark on the next step in my racing career,” said Jones. “We’re going to take it slow and be smart about where we run. The Martinsville race is a perfect fit because of the testing we’ve done there in the Late Model Stock. I am confident we’ll have what it takes to run well as we move into the truck.

“We were up in Martinsville for the last truck race there, just to see the tempo and how the event runs,” said Jones. “I really liked that the Cup series runs the same weekend. That makes it even more exciting, not to mention the great additional exposure for my sponsors with live TV and radio coverage.”

Devin Jones Racing has been strategic about its moves throughout Devin Jones’ racing career – moving from Legends cars to Super Late Models and then to a heavier Late Model Stock. This progression has given Jones the experience he needs to perform well in a NASCAR Camping World Truck right out of the gate.

“When we first started racing full size cars we knew we had to spend time first in a Super, to gain experience with high horse power to weight ratio cars,” said Jones. “Then we also knew we needed to race in a big spring, heavy Late Model Stock. I’m really looking forward to racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series. With NASCAR’s recent age drop for the truck series, they are really trying to help younger drives get into the Truck Series.”

For 2013, Devin Jones Racing is planning to run a limited NASCAR Camping World Truck schedule so that Jones can maintain his Rookie status for 2014. When Jones isn’t racing the NASCAR Camping World Truck, he will again run his #35 VeriStor Late Model Stock car in the UARA-STARS series throughout the Southeast as he looks to capture the series title.

His first NASCAR Camping World Truck race will be the Kroger 250 on April 4 at Martinsville Speedway where the series runs the same weekend as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Martinsville 500. The Kroger 250 race will air live on Fox/Speed television and MRN radio.
