Chase Purdy Battles to Top-10 Finish at North Wilkesboro

Chase Purdy was running just outside the top 10 when a late-race caution set up the final round of pit stops with just under 30 laps remaining. While on pit road, a pit gun malfunctioned causing the No. 4 team to lose several spots on pit road. After restating outside the top 20 with 23 laps remaining, Purdy battled his way forward and would end the race with a hard-fought eighth-place finish.
 
The top-10 finish was Purdy’s career-best fifth of the season.

“We had a really fast Bama Buggies Silverado today. We didn’t qualify where we would’ve liked to – it was really loose and I kind of overdrove it. Started 24th and on the first stop we made the truck a lot better. We were really good when the race runs were longer than 15 laps. Really proud of all these guys, we had a tough two weeks and then came out here and had a solid day. Getting some stage points was huge for us and a great way to get headed back in the right direction. Now we need to take this momentum into Charlotte and have another good day.”
 
 
Tyson 250 Recap:
 
  • Kyle Larson won Saturday’s Tyson 250. It was his first Truck Series victory of 2023 and the third of his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career. Ty Majeski finished second, while Matt DiBenedetto, Carson Hocevar and Bubba Wallace rounded out the top five.
  • There were 12 cautions for 81 laps and six lead changes among five drivers.
 
 
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Point Standings:
 
Purdy gained two positions in the Craftsman Truck Series point standings. After 10 races, he sits 13th in the standings and 14th on the playoff grid, 32 points below the cutoff line.
