Dakoda Armstrong Kentucky Speedway Advance
New Team, Same Goal: Dakoda Armstrong has just announced that he will be joining forces with Turner Motorsports for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Kentucky 201 Race at Kentucky Speedway.
“I am excited that we have the opportunity to run for Turner in their 4 machine. They are a great team that always has good results. I am also excited to be back at Kentucky Speedway. It has been one of my favorite tracks, and I hope that with Turner force behind me, we can get a solid finish this weekend.”
Armstrong hopes with the experience he has gained from his previous starts at Kentucky Speedway, he and his Mudd Advertising, Turner, Chevrolet Silverado team will be able to race their way to a strong finish. This will be Armstrong’s first time behind the wheel of a Turner Motorsports truck, and expectations run high for Armstrong.
“Turner has done really well at this track. I know that with my previous experience and their knowledge of the setup, we can form a really good team. I hope that we will be able to get the truck set up great in practice so that we can have a good qualifying run to get us up front for the drop of the green flag.”
Armstrong hopes that in returning to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series after a one-race hiatus, that he will be able to come back strong. After finding out he would not have enough sponsorship to finish out the year, Armstrong says he is relieved that Mudd Advertising was able to support him for the Kentucky 201, and he is thankful an opportunity arose to race for Turner.
“Every track we go to, week in and week out, Turner is competitive. I am glad that I am able to step into one of their trucks for this race. I am so thankful to Mudd Advertising for sponsoring us for this week. Both Turner and Mudd are the reason that I am able to do what I love, and I have to thank them for that.”
The Kentucky 201 is set to be a one-day event for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitors and teams. The day starts off with two practices. The first practice is from 10-11:00 am EST, and the second and final practice will take place from 11:30-1:00 pm EST. Qualifying for the race event will start at 4:30 pm EST. SPEED will begin airing the driver introductions at 7:00 pm EST followed by the Kentucky 201 set to begin at 7:30 pm EST.
Stay Tuned: SPEED will be airing an Ethanol special on Dakoda Armstrong and his family farm during this weekend’s Setup. The special is scheduled to air on the SPEED NCWTS Setup at 7:00 pm EST. Also, follow Dakoda on Facebook and Twitter (@DakodaArmstrong) for race weekend updates.
A Look Back at Atlanta: Armstrong and his EverFi team had a disappointing night at Atlanta Motor Speedway a few weeks back. The day started off with two practices. Armstrong says they tried a lot of different fixes, but they just could never get the truck quite right. Qualifying was next, and things weren’t looking up for Armstrong and his EverFi Tundra. They would start in the 29th position for the beginning of the Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 200.
Early in the race, Armstrong came on the radio telling his crew chief Dan Stillman that his truck was extremely free. Armstrong and his crew would come in for a green flag pit stop, but their bad luck had not worn its course. Armstrong sped down pit road, and had to make another pass through pit road under green, which would set the team further back. In the end, Armstrong brought his No. 98 EverFi Toyota Tundra across the finish line in the 23rd position.
"It was a disappointing day for me and my team. My guys worked hard to prepare the truck, and it was my fault for speeding down pit road. It really set us back and put a damper on our night. The truck was just really free, and we didn’t have the track position from qualifying that I know my team was capable of. I feel like I say this a lot, but I really just want to thank my EverFi crew for working so hard to prepare a race truck for me, and it stinks we weren’t able to catch some breaks to get a good finish.”
