Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Michigan International Raceway –

“Michigan International Raceway was one of the first tracks I drove on when I first started in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. My last race in Pocono was heartbreaking for me; I really thought it was going to be my first victory in the No. 30 Chevrolet Silverado. We’re bringing the same truck this weekend, and my team built a fast one. Maybe this weekend I can finally get my team the win they deserve.”

Buescher on returning to Michigan International Raceway –

“I’m more than ready to head to Michigan this weekend. After racing in the No. 30 Nationwide car there earlier this season, I was able to get a feeling for the changes that come after paving a track. It’s going to be a fast race for sure, and with a ton of room to be able to move around, it’s going to be a great race for fans as well. The truck we’re coming with has given my team great results, so hopefully we can get another great finish this weekend.”

  • Brazilian in the Irish Hills…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) heads from the Pocono mountains to the Irish Hills of Michigan for the VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway. Paludo has one previous start at the 2.0-mile D-shaped oval. In 2011, Paludo started ninth and finished third, which remains his career-best NCWTS finish.
  • Meet Me Halfway…With 11 races in the record books, the 22-race 2012 NCWTS season has reached the halfway point. Going into this weekend’s race in Michigan, Paludo now sits 11th in the driver point standings, eight points outside the top-10. Paludo has scored one top-10 and eight top-15 finishes and has one pole. Paludo has led 66 laps, completed 1,696 of 1,724 laps of compitition (98.4% laps completed), has an average start of 10.5 and an average finish of 15.2.
  • Changes Atop the Pit Box…Turner Motorsports would like to welcome Jeff Hensley to the No. 32 Duroline team. Hensley, who most recently served as crew chief for four-time NCWTS champion Ron Hornaday Jr., will take over as crew chief for Paludo and will lead the No. 32 team for the remainder of the 2012 season. Former No. 32 crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. will remain with Turner Motorsports to serve as crew chief for the team’s fourth NCWTS entry when it competes and will be involved in the organization’s other NCWTS and NNS efforts.
  • Meet and Greet…Paludo will be participating in the MIS open garage experience, part of the track’s Fan Appreciation Program. For more information, visit mispeedway.com.
  • This Week’s Silverado…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will unload chassis TMS-216 for this weekend’s race at Michigan International Speedway. TMS-216 has a best finish of 12th (Kentucky).
  • Diabetes Fact of the Week…Diabetes and its complications have a significant economic impact on individuals, families, health systems and countries. For example, the World Health Organization estimates that in the period from 2006-2015, China will lose $558 billion in foregone national income due to heart disease, stroke and diabetes alone.
  • Previous Race Recap… Paludo was once again denied the finish his truck was capable of when he was swept into another competitor’s wreck in the closing dozen laps of the Pocono Mountains 125 at Pocono Raceway. Paludo was running solidly in the top-10 when another competitor wrecked, sideswiping the No. 32 Duroline Brakes Chevrolet and sending him spinning, forcing a late-race pit stop and resulting in a 13th-place finish at the “Tricky Triangle.”

Miguel Paludo on driving at Michigan International Speedway

“I’ve been looking forward to getting back to Michigan pretty much since we left there in 2011. I seem to excel on the bigger, more sweeping tracks, and Michigan is no exception. I had a really great race there, finished third, which is my best finish in Trucks so far. I can’t wait to get back there and improve my finish by two more spots.”
