ANOTHER BURTON ATTEMPTS “ROCK TAMING”:
After making his NASCAR debut at Martinsville Speedway two weeks ago and finishing in a respectable 13th position, Jeb Burton finds himself itching to get behind the wheel one again in his #27 State Water Heaters Chevy Silverado. This time, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie will take to the track at the famed Rockingham Speedway for the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 200 presented by Cheerwine.
Busy Burton spent his two weeks of down time from the NCWTS racing his late model this past weekend at both Ace Speedway and South Boston Speedway. Burton was destined to take the checkered flag last Friday night at Ace Speedway, as he dominated the field crossing the finish line first in a tough battle. His luck unfortunately didn’t hold out on Saturday night, when 20 laps from the checkered flag, his motor just stopped on him as he was passing for the second position.
ROCKINGHAM DESTINY – FROM THE WOMB?
When Jeb was asked about the family history at the Rock, he stated, “my dad (Ward Burton),has had some good luck at this track and so has my Uncle Jeff -they both have Cup Series wins here. It is a special place for my dad because his first Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) and Cup Series wins were here. My dad also had several top -10 finishes, so he has some great advice for me technically when it comes to racing at Rockingham. When he won the NNS race, my mom was pregnant with me at the time- so there are some really good memories for both my mom and dad at this track.”

ON HIS LATE MODEL WIN AT ACE SPEEDWAY:
“I was ready for another win here at Ace,” said Burton. “I had a great car and we worked hard putting the car together for this race.” His luck unfortunately didn’t hold out on Saturday night, when 20 laps from the checkered flag, his motor just stopped on him as he was passing for the second position. “It felt like I hit the kill switch and the thing just died. I hate it for us because we had a good car and could have won the race. I am ready to get back to the NCWTS this weekend, racing – I am really looking forward to Rockingham.”
ON MARTINSVILLE & BEYOND:
“It was a great learning experience at Martinsville – the pressure is off a ‘debut’ now, and I feel like I can just race. We tested this chassis at Ace Speedway earlier this year, and I think it mimics Rockingham pretty well. I was also able to test at ‘Little Rock’ earlier this season, so my confidence is pretty high. I just want to get on that track, I’ve heard so many great things about it.”
FROM DAD, 2002 DAYTONA WINNER WARD BURTON:
Ward Burton will once again be present at the track this weekend not only supporting Jeb, but he will also be getting behind the wheel of the Pace Car while entertaining their sponsor guests for State Water Heater.s “It will be nice to head back to Rockingham this weekend,”said Ward. “I have enjoyed some solid finishes at that track, but it’s not an easy track to tackle. It is great to see NASCAR returning to ‘The Rock’- and Andy Hillenburg has done a tremendous job getting NASCAR to come back here for the Truck Series. NASCAR has allowed more practice time on the schedule for these guys this weekend than usual, and I really think that is positive thing with some additional seat time for Jeb. Crew chief Trip Bruce is doing a great job with the #27 State Water Heaters Chevy, and we will be looking to bring home another solid finish for our team.”
