Halmar Friesen Racing Active Pest Control 200 Race Recap

Stewart Friesen Race Recap:

Stewart Friesen, driver of the No. 52 Halmar International Chevrolet, overcame adversity Saturday afternoon to finish the second race of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season on the lead lap in 19th position.

Starting the race from the 10th row, Friesen quickly began gaining on the field and was racing around 15th as the first segment of the Active Pest Control 200 was coming to a close. On lap 39, Friesen blew a right front tire and had to pit with one lap remaining in the first segment. A penalty for pitting while pit road was closed caused the No. 52 team to lose a lap and fall as low as 28th to start the second segment. Friesen received the free pass on a lap 49 caution and was able to work his way back up to 20th position.

Friesen felt another right front tire going down four laps before the end of the second segment. Crew Chief Trip Bruce made the call to stay out until the caution waved on lap 80. The No. 52 Chevy went a lap down for the second time, but Friesen was able to take the wave around on lap 94 and get back on the lead lap. Ultimately the No. 52 Halmar International team would finish the race with a top-20 finish.

Stew says…

“Tire failures made this race very challenging for me. It was disappointing only to be racing for a top-20 finish after having high hopes for the race this week, but we were able to work through the troubles we did have.”
“We are heading in the right direction with the HFR team. I know there will be growing pains during our first full-time season, but these guys put everything they have into this team, and I know we will have success soon.”
