Tyler Reddick Eldora 2016 Recap

Tyler Reddick (@TylerReddick) turned in a solid performance in the Aspen Dental Eldora Dirt Derby NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race Wednesday night at Eldora (Rossburg, Ohio) Speedway, but was a bit crestfallen with his final result.
 
The driver of the Cooper Standard Ford F-150 scored a fifth-place finish but wanted to challenge for the victory.  Reddick grabbed his second-consecutive top five at Eldora and gained ground in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings with his fourth top five of the season.  He remains eighth in the Chase standings, nine points behind seventh-place Timothy Peters and 18 ahead of ninth-place Ben Kennedy.   
 
Reddick kicked off his night in impressive fashion by logging the second-quick time in qualifying late Thursday afternoon.  He started from the pole and led all 10 laps of his qualifying race, his second consecutive victory in the shootout races used to determine the starting lineup for the main event.
 
He started second in the 150-lap race and ran just behind the leader until the first caution on lap 22.  Reddick fell in line fourth when the race went green on lap 27 and was running fifth at the competition caution which ended the first segment.  He made his only stop of the race during the break for four tires and adjustments to his tight-handling Ford F-150 and restarted sixth on lap 43.
 
From there, Reddick picked his way through three cautions and the rambunctious restarts that followed to run third by lap 79, and he stayed there until the second and final competition caution slowed the race at the conclusion of 90 laps of racing. Reddick lined up third for the restart, but struggled to find speed on the inside lane and was shuffled back to seventh by lap 96. 
 

From there, Reddick worked tirelessly to get back inside the top five. He picked off fifth position on lap 123 and was up to third on 128 when the ninth and final yellow slowed the pace.  The race went green on lap 135 with Reddick saddled with the disadvantage of restarting again in the inside lane, but the young driver did a good job to fight his way back to fifth-place at the checkered flag.
