When the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to Gateway Motorsports Park for the Drivin’ For Lineman 200, it will be a special treat for everyone at MB Motorsports. The team, based just 60 miles west of the track gets to race at their ‘hometown’ track. 17 year-old racer, Jake Griffin, who grew up in Quincy, IL will make his second start of the season when he climbs behind the wheel of the #63 Vatterott Educational Centers / Dirty Hand Tools Chevy Silverado on Saturday.
“Whereas most teams call Charlotte Motor Speedway their home track, for us it’s Gateway,” says team owner Mike Mittler. “It gives us a chance to say thanks to all the local folks who help us race at this level. Vatterott Educational Centers has a number of campuses here in the St. Louis area, so this is their home track, too. They will have a bunch of their people there with us, as will Excel Bottling / Ski Soda and of course, Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool.”
“I’m very excited to get back behind the wheel of the Vatterott / Dirty Hand Tools Chevy,” adds Griffin. “We had a decent run for them at Iowa last weekend. This will be my first truck race here at Gateway, so there will be a definite learning curve, but with Rick Ren’s advice, I think we’ll be just fine.”
Vatterott serves a diverse student population across 21 locations in 7 states, as well as a vibrant online community. Each of these institutions takes pride in serving both the student population and the local communities that help continue the Vatterott tradition.
Vatterott is showcasing their automotive programs on the #63 Chevy Silverado in the Drivin’ For Linemen 200. According to Kevin Smith, Vatterott Corporate Director of Marketing, “Our automotive program is quite diverse. Students can choose from our Automotive Technology, Auto Body and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Repair Technician, Commercial Driver’s License, Powersports and Diesel Mechanic programs.
