Timothy Peters Records 14th-Place Finish at Dover

Timothy Peters piloted the No. 17 Toyota Tundra to a 14th-place finish at Dover International Speedway in the JACOB Companies 200. On Thursday in two practice sessions, Peters was 13th and 11th fastest. Qualifying was canceled due to inclement weather, so the field was set per the NASCAR Rule Book by practice speeds and Peters would begin the race in the 17th position. Skies cleared in time for the green flag to wave, but Peters immediately reported a tight condition. Crew chief Shane Huffman brought Peters to pit road under the first caution on lap 44 for four Goodyear tires, Sunoco fuel and a track bar adjustment. Peters pit for adjustments under two subsequent cautions, but continued to battle a tight Toyota Tundra, eventually reporting that he was loose on entry to the corner, but tight on exit. During a caution on lap 80, Huffman again called Peters in for four tires, fuel and major adjustments, but continued to fight the balance on the No. 17. Peters would visit pit road for another four-tire stop on lap 135, and once more for fuel and adjustments under caution, but ultimately finished in the 14th position.

Timothy Peters Quote:
“We were just too tight the whole day, but we didn’t have those balance issues yesterday in practice. Shane (Huffman, crew chief) and the guys worked hard all race and made every adjustment possible to get us better and we wound up 14th. They’ll look at it on Monday and figure out what the difference was and be better for it. The effort is there from everyone on our Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team and I’m looking forward to running up front next Friday at Charlotte (Motor Speedway).”
