CTS: Majeski goes back to back to close out truck series regular season as Eckes wins regular season championship

Earlier in the day Christian Eckes, one of the two drivers going for the regular season championship, won the pole over Ty Majeski. Corey Heim, who was also looking to take home the championship rolled from just outside the top-five in the sixth position.

Following a 12-lap battle for the lead between Eckes and Majeski with Enfinger in the mix for before Majeski would pass both to take the lead over pole sitter Eckes.

The first caution of the night would come out when Matt Mills would have an issue that would shoot the truck hard up into the wall laying down debris on the track from cutting both right-side tires. Mills would take his truck to pit road before the team would make the decision to have it towed directly to the garage ending his night.

On the restart Majeski would be taken three wide by Taylor Gray and Eckes with the No. 19 truck making the pass for the lead. Majeski would end up losing about a half-dozen spots on the restart after leading to Eckes who made a pit stop for fresh tires.

Stage one would end with Eckes taking home the opening stage win of the night over Taylor Gray, Enfinger, Rhodes and Riggs rounding out the top-five.

With the stage one win Eckes would take home the regular season championship over Corey Heim.

Enfinger would take control of the race following the restart with Eckes and Tay. Gray in tow. Gray would eventually make his move just past the halfway point just as Matt Crafton would go for a spin in turn three and four to bring out the third caution of the night.

Stage two would end with Enfinger taking the lead back and the stage win over Eckes followed by Dye, Riggs and Heim.

The final stage of the night wouldn’t make it lap when caution would be displayed for the fifth time of the night when Thompson would go for a spin in turn three collecting McGee, Moffitt, Crafton and more. McGee would make his way back to pit road exiting his truck with Moffitt making it a half lap before NASCAR asked him to stop and getting towed back to the garage ending both of their nights.

With laps winding down Connor Zilisch making his series debut would spin and back his No 7 truck into the wall causing heavy damage sending him to the garage to end his night.

The final restart would come with eight laps remaining as Majeski would hold off Eckes by 0.936 second followed by Tay. Gary, Enfinger and Riggs to take home back-to-back wins to finish off the regular season.

“We had a good truck. Knowing how good this thing was last year we wanted to prove we could do it again after everything that happened towards the end of the year last year, so we did that. We recovered from it. It was a little bit tougher to recover this year, but what a fast Soda Sense Ford F-150. I’m so proud of these ThorSport guys sticking behind me.” Said Majeski

“We’ve got to clean up these little mistakes though because that could be the difference between transferring to Phoenix and not. We’ve got to clean those things up, but as long as we keep getting to Victory Lane the sky is the limit for us. We’re on it right now.” Continued Majeski

Heim leaves Richmond with the points lead heading into the first round of the playoffs followed by Eckes, Majeski, Sanchez, Caruth, Enfinger, Ankrum, Tay. Gray, Rhodes and Dye as the 10 drivers who will compete for the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes a week off before heading to Milwaukee Mile Speedway Sunday, August 25 at 4:00 p.m. ET on FS1 for the start of the truck series playoffs.
