NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series regular season finale rolls into Richmond Raceway

Richmond Raceway is set to host the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Regular Season Finale with the Clean Harbors 250 on August 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET, broadcast on FS1, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. This race marks the culmination of the regular season, promising intense short track action under the lights.

Richmond Raceway has a storied history in the Truck Series, having hosted 15 races that produced 10 different pole winners and 12 different race winners. Notable drivers like Tony Stewart, Mike Skinner, and Jack Sprague each have two victories at the 0.75-mile track. This weekend, Grant Enfinger, the 2020 winner, is the only previous Richmond victor in the lineup, while Matt Crafton leads the field with nine appearances at the track.

Several records have been set at Richmond Raceway, including Bob Keselowski’s race record of 104.167 mph in 1997 and David Starr’s qualifying record of 126.648 mph in 2005. Jack Sprague holds multiple records, including the most top fives (4), top tens (7), and laps led (304).

With only three spots left in the Truck Series Playoff field, every lap will be crucial. Practice begins on August 10 at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by Cometic Gasket Pole Qualifying at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Christian Eckes and Corey Heim have been battling for the Regular Season Championship all year. Eckes, driving for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing, currently leads the standings by 50 points. If Eckes secures the championship, he will earn an additional 15 Playoff points and join the ranks of previous champions like Christopher Bell and Johnny Sauter. Eckes has had a standout season with three wins, nine top-five finishes, and 14 top-ten finishes, leading the series with 698 laps led.

Connor Zilisch returns to the Truck Series with Spire Motorsports, aiming to boost the team’s standing in the Owner Point Standings. Zilisch, recently announced as a full-time 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, will compete in five of the final eight races of the 2024 season. The Charlotte native will drive the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, starting at Richmond. In his debut earlier this year, Zilisch made a strong impression by claiming his first pole and finishing fourth.

Currently, the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet is fifth in the owners’ point standings, bolstered by two victories from Kyle Busch at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. The truck has also secured two stage victories, five top-five finishes, and nine top-ten results through 15 races.

As the regular season finale approaches, the stakes are high for drivers and teams vying for a spot in the Playoffs. Richmond Raceway’s short track promises an exciting and strategic race, with every lap potentially making the difference in the championship battle.

Connor Hall, the 2023 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series national champion, will make his NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series debut at Richmond Raceway. Hall, from Hampton, Virginia, will drive the No. 91 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing Chevrolet. He currently leads the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock championship and the Virginia Triple Crown standings. Hall expressed excitement about the opportunity, believing Richmond suits his driving style. The No. 91 team, led by crew chief Darren Fraley, is 12th in the owners’ point standings. Team owner Bill McAnally praised Hall’s talent and determination, stating he is deserving of this chance.
