Hemric Finishes Eighth in Season Finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway

Daniel Hemric and his NTS Motorsports team came into the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) season finale with speed, topping the charts in the weekend’s only practice session and advancing to the final round of knockout qualifying. Battling the handling of his California Clean Power Chevrolet on the long run, the 24-year-old rookie was unable to capture the win, ultimately finishing eighth at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Topping the speed charts from his first run in the only practice session of the weekend, Hemric qualified his No. 14 Chevrolet Silverado in the seventh position. Finding his truck to be free in the opening laps, Hemric was running in the eighth position when it came time for green-flag pit stops on lap 49. Crew chief Ryan McKinney called for four tires, fuel and both air-pressure and wedge adjustments before Hemric returned to the track in the eighth spot. The caution flag waved on lap 62 for a spin, and the team made the call to continue to hone in on the handling of their Silverado, providing four tires, fuel and a spring-rubber adjustment. Taking the green flag from the ninth spot on lap 67, Hemric found that his Chevy Silverado had better forward bite but was feeling “numb” in the center of the turns. A caution on lap 84 provided the team with one final chance to adjust on the California Clean Power machine, and McKinney called for four tires, fuel and both track-bar and spring-rubber adjustments. Returning to the track in the 15th position after several competitors opted not to pit, Hemric was able to pick up seven positions in the final green-flag run, taking the checkered flag in the eighth position.

Daniel Hemric on Homestead-Miami Speedway
“Overall, I’m really proud of everything we accomplished this season. My NTS Motorsports crew and I worked really well together and I feel like I learned so much about the ins and outs of these trucks. I obviously would have liked to finish off the season with a win, but we can hold our heads high when we look back at the season. We brought a fast truck to the racetrack this weekend, we just didn’t have as much speed on the long runs as we did on restarts. I’m so thankful to California Clean Power, Bob Newberry, my spotter Rick Carelli, Chris Rice, my crew chief Ryan McKinney and everyone at NTS Motorsports. We fought hard all year and never gave up. I’m grateful for everything we accomplished as a team and I’m looking forward to what the future holds.”

Hemric ends the season seventh in the NCWTS Driver Point Standings with a total of four top fives and 13 top-10 finishes, putting the No. 14 10th in the NCWTS Owner Point Standings. The 2016 Truck Series season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
