Meetball to host top campsite competition at Chicagoland Speedway

MeetBall, a free app that helps fans navigate the crowd via real-time location sharing and custom venue maps, will host the “Top Campsite” competition in the Chicagoland Speedway infield on Saturday, September 19.

The infield experience isn’t unique to NASCAR, but has a strong history across all sports. Every celebration is different; some have flags supporting their favorite driver or team, others have elaborate barbeque pits, while almost all represent quality time together with friends and family.

Frustrated by years of spending football game days trying to connect with friends and family in vast undefined spaces, MeetBall CEO Ryan Owen set out to build a solution that would save fans time better spent creating memories with the people they care about.

“MeetBall helps enhance the fan experience at sporting events by putting an easy-to-use location-based tool in the hands of fans at crowded venues, and the NASCAR community is the ideal fit for our platform,” Owen said. “We’ve been welcomed with open arms through initial testing at the Iowa Speedway, and look forward to our future within NASCAR.”

On Saturday, NASCAR XFINITY Series champion Joe Nemechek will judge the top three campsites at the Chicagoland Speedway, and will meet fans and make the “Top Campsite” presentation. At 4:00 p.m. (CT), Nemechek will award the second and third place campsites with special prizes and present the winner with a Quick Top Shelter.

Representatives from MeetBall will be touring the Chicagoland Speedway infield taking pictures of the most unique campsites, and participants will be asked to post pictures of their set-up to social media using #TopCampsite and tagging @MeetBall on Twitter. Contest entries will be asked to use MeetBall to share their campsite location so that it can be located and judged.
