Brad Keselowski Pocono Raceway Recap

A day that started with so much promise ended far too soon for Brad Keselowski Saturday afternoon at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.

Keselowski (@keselowski) was sidelined by an accident after completing just five laps in the Pocono Mountains 150.  The incident happened in Turn 3 at the 2.5-mile speedway when he and Matt Crafton made contact and ended up in the outside SAFER barrier while racing for fifth place.

Brad was racing side by side with Crafton off Turn 2 when Kevin Harvick dove under both trucks at the entrance to Turn 3, briefly making it three wide.  Keselowski and Crafton then made contact and landed against the outside wall, ending Brad’s afternoon.  He was officially credited with 30th in the final rundown.

The incident cut short a promising day for the Cooper Standard team.  Keselowski posted the seventh best speed in the final practice session on Friday afternoon.  Crew chief Chad Kendrick and the team made several adjustments to help the No. 29 Ford F-150 turn better in the corners.

The changes were working as evidenced by the team’s performance during qualifying Saturday.  Brad logged the eighth best speed in the first qualifying round then grabbed the fourth starting position with a lap that fell just eight one-hundredths of a second shy of the pole speed.

Keselowski promptly took second place on the initial start but soon radioed his crew that his truck was loose on entry and tight in the center of the corners.  The team was plotting what adjustments to make when their day ended on lap 5.

The No. 29 team looks to rebound strong Aug. 15 at Michigan International Speedway in the Careers For Veterans 200 presented by the Cooper Standard Foundation and Brad Keselowski’s Checkered Flag Foundation.
