Lofton, ESR Head To New Hampshire With New Enthusiasm

Last race review: Justin Lofton and the No. 6 CollegeComplete.com (http://www.collegecomplete.com) Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) team made their debut with Chevrolet last week at Chicagoland Speedway. After practicing an impressive third their first time out, Lofton laid down a 15th place qualifying run. Under the lights and the green flag, Lofton maintained his No. 6 CollegeComplete.com Chevrolet within the top-15 despite a lingering issue with the handling. After taking the checkered flag with a secured 15th place finish, Lofton climbed from his machine and discovered that the right rear tire was going flat. After noticing the close call, Lofton and crew chief Dan Bormann reviewed their race, declaring their first run with Chevrolet a learning experience and the groundwork for the future. The race result at Chicagoland boosted Lofton two positions in the driver point standings to 15th.

Lofton at New Hampshire: Last season Lofton started the NCWTS race at New Hampshire from the 10th position. He had a solid day despite a handling issue with the right front, ran as high as seventh, and finished the event in the 11th position. He also has a Nationwide Series start to his credit at the 1.058-mile oval. Last June while the Truck Series observed a week off, Lofton opted to enter the NNS event at the New England area track, where he qualified an impressive ninth and finished 17th.

Truck information: Lofton will race chassis 133 this week at Loudon. The truck was recently converted to a Chevrolet at ESR. It was last run by Lofton last month at Bristol. He started the race deep in the field from the 29th position, and muscled his way to seventh, his highest showing to date this season.

Lofton on New Hampshire Motor Speedway: “I had a lot of fun at Loudon last year in both the Nationwide car and the truck. It’s a shorter track but it is pretty racy. Last week was our first with Chevrolet. The horsepower is different, aero is different, as a team we are learning this truck, how to set it up, so it will be good to go to a shorter track to add that to the notebook.”

Lofton lowdown: Following last Friday’s race, Lofton returned to North Carolina and shifted his focus to his production company, Weekend Warriors Entertainment. WWE spent the weekend and first half of the week shooting a music video on location for country singer John Michael Carroll’s latest single, “Meet Me In the Barn.” Lofton wears many hats for Weekend Warriors Entertainment, spanning that of producer to cameraman. Though his main focus is on his racing career, as a co-owner of a production company, it seems as though Lofton’s work is never done. On Sunday he tweeted from the shoot, “On the set for 19 hours. Makes the race track days seem short.”
