NCTS: Corey Heim earns third win of season at North Wilkesboro

Corey Heim cruised to victory on Sunday afternoon at North Wilkesboro Speedway in the delayed Wright Brand 250.

Heim took over the top spot from Jake Garcia after a restart on Lap 186 of 250 and would hold onto the spot until the checkered flag.

Heim crossed the finish line with a 2.474 second place lead over Grant Enfinger in second.

Rounding out the top five were Jake Garcia in second, Layne Riggs in third, Brendan Queen in fourth and Sammy Smith in fifth.

Queen, who finished fourth earned his best career finish. Queen had to overcome a speeding penalty on Lap 118.

“Oh man, I can’t believe it,’’ Queen told FS1 post-race. “We got that speeding penalty. I thought I was conservative on the lights and it just got to us. Rookie mistake.”

Five inches of rain fell on the North Wilkesboro Speedway on Saturday, which NASCAR would make the decision to complete the remainder of the race on Sunday.

“I’ve never seen so much rain come down in an hour in my life,” Heim told FS1 post-race. “That was crazy but eventually we were able to wipe it down and make sure there was no damage and I was able to recover from that for sure.”

Rounding out the top ten were Christian Eckes in sixth, Nick Sanchez in seventh, Tyler Ankrum in eighth, Daniel Dye in ninth and Stewart Friesen in tenth.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on FS1.
