NCWTS: Erik Jones Scores American Ethanol 200 Pole

Erik Jones will start on the pole for Friday’s American Ethanol 200 at the Iowa Speedway. Jones earned his third pole of the year after a time of 23.129 seconds, 136.193 mph. The top five start will mark his seventh of the year with eight races complete.

John Hunter Nemechek ended the final round of knockout qualifying in the second starting spot. Nemechek posted a lap of 23.172 seconds, 135.940 mph. around the 0.875-mile oval. The race on Friday will be Nemechek’s fourth start of the 2015 season.

Tyler Reddick will have a solid starting spot as he searches for his third win of the year. Reddick will take the green flag in the third starting spot after a time of 23.303 seconds, 135.176 mph. The California native will start inside the top 10 for the sixth time of the year.

Timothy Peters, who’s a former winner at Iowa, did not make it into the final round. Peters will have some work to do once the green flag drops as he will start in 16th.

Johnny Sauter will also have some work to do as well. Sauter will leave pit road in the 20th starting spot. His last victory came back in 2014 at the Michigan International Speedway.

With 32 trucks showing up, nobody went home after qualifying. There were no on-track incidents through the three rounds.
