Ray Black Jr. Returns to Texas Motor Speedway with Momentum on His Side

Having returned to the Top-10 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) championship standings after a one week stay in 11th place, Ray Black Jr. plans to keep up the forward movement as the No. 07 ScubaLife.com Chevrolet Silverado team makes a return trip to the Texas Motor Speedway. While the team earned a Top-20 finish during their visit there last year, Black is confident they can improve on his career-best finish at the 1.5-mile track.

Last weekend at Dover International Speedway, Black secured an 11th place finish despite only having fourth gear for the majority of the race. This weekend he is seeking to further improve his finishing position at Texas Motor Speedway.

“I think Texas will be good. Last time we went there we had a flat tire during a green flag run so that hurt us,” said Black. “But this time we have great truck going. I’ve been there before and I know what the track is like so I know what to expect. I believe we can easily earn a Top-15 finish, if not better.”

Black is also looking at this weekend as a way to earn some redemption. The mile-and-a-half tracks have been a bit of a challenge for the team this year, as they’ve had mechanical problems rob them of the finishes they deserved.

“I’m definitely looking for some redemption this weekend. Just as far as mile-and-a-half tracks go, we’ve had great trucks and great runs. We just haven’t had the finishes to show for it,” he said. “If all goes according to plan, we should be able to put together a great race and grab another solid finish.”

In addition to the race, Black is excited about visiting the Dallas/Fort Worth area and sharing the track with the Verizon Indy Car Series.

“I follow the Indy Car series, so I’ll probably go and try to hang out with them and squeeze my way in there. It’s cool to be able to see them run, especially with Juan Pablo Montoya just recently winning the Indy 500,” said Black. “I’m also looking forward to being back in the Dallas area. The city has some great restaurants and a fun nightlife. I’ll definitely enjoy my time out there.”
