Ben Kennedy Finishes Sixth at the Monster Mile

Ben Kennedy and the No. 11 Local Motors team turned their momentum around with a sixth-place finish at Dover International Speedway on Friday evening. When the Red Horse Racing team unloaded the black and white machine at the ‘Monster Mile’ on Thursday afternoon, they worked to improve the Toyota Tundra’s balance for the Daytona Beach, Florida driver, posting the 18th-fastest speed in the single practice session. They returned Friday and advanced to the second round of time trials, where they secured the 18th starting position for the Lucas Oil 200. Despite starting the 200-lap event with a loose-handling condition, the Scott Zipadelli-led team was able to tighten up the Local Motors Tundra with air pressure adjustments during three routine visits to pit road for service. Kennedy gradually picked his way through the field, and coupled with a solid performance by the pit crew, the No. 11 team took the checkered flag in the sixth position.

Ben Kennedy Quote:

“We had a good rebound with our Local Motors Tundra today at Dover (International Speedway). The guys made really good decisions on the box, and we had solid pit stops every time we came down pit road. Everything really came together today. We started out a little bit free, and worked hard throughout the race. By the end of the race, we had the truck at its best. At that point, we just needed a little more track position. We are really happy with our sixth-place finish, and it was a good points day. I’m glad I only have to wait a week to get back into the truck, and we’ll head to Texas (Motor Speedway) with positive momentum.”
