Gaughan Racing Chassis GR-016 at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Atlanta Motor Speedway sees Brendan Gaughan back behind the wheel of a Tundra chassis he last drove at Darlington Raceway earlier in the season. Gaughan likes the truck and loves the racing action at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He’s anxious to see what his No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra can do with the competition in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event.

“Atlanta is a very, very fast track. You go so fast there. Even though it looks like Texas and it looks like Charlotte – for some reason it has faster characteristics. Bruton Smith has some of the best tracks on the schedule and Atlanta is one of them. There are multiple grooves to pick and choose from – if you’re tight you can find a groove that works better, if you are loose you can find a groove that will help out,” said Gaughan.

Gaughan is racing chassis GR-016, one that served him very well at Darlington until an incident very late in the race.

“We’re taking a truck I ran at Darlington earlier this year. It’s got some of the best side-force numbers of any of the trucks in the shop. We’re optimistic heading into Atlanta that it will be a good South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra for us there,” said Gaughan.

In addition to racing in Atlanta, Gaughan says he enjoys the area and what it has to offer. He and his wife have some fun planned, and may make their Atlanta trip several days longer given the off-week for the Truck Series next week.

“My wife and I are going to dive at the Georgia Aquarium just for fun. We’ll probably get dinner at Dante’s Down the Hatch. It’s a really cool restaurant. It’s a pirate ship inside the building. Atlanta’s a great town to go race in, and since we’re off the week after we race, we might just call my buddy Andy Lally and get some more ideas of things to do around town and kind of spend some time there,” said Gaughan.”
