Bubba Wallace ends his time at Kyle Busch Motorsports with a win at Homestead

On a warmer than average day in the growing farming and residential community of Homestead, Florida, tens of thousands of fans crowded through the gates to witness the first day of Ford Championship Weekend.

From the moment the gate opened until the last drop of champagne was spilled in victory lane, track promoters as well as NASCAR offered up a full schedule of events for fans to enjoy. As would be expected, the Ford Fan Zone dominated the area. It offered up a chance to view the entire line-up of Ford vehicles, as well as on-stage interviews wih Ford drivers, including BKR stand-out Tyler Rddick.

You were also able to enter numerous contests in the exhibit areas, and sample the wares of several brand name sponsors, including Smithfield bacon, 5 hour energy, and Nesquik!

For those of us who enjoy auto racing as well as trying to save money, the track also offered several meet-n-greet experieces that included the opportuity to meet one of the drivers in the race as well as admission at a substantial discount. Joey Coulter, driver of the #21 machine, was very generous with his time and his opinions.

The day allowed race fans the chance to not only see the truck race, but also Nationwide practice and Spint Cup qualifying. It is for this reason that I strongly recommend visiting NASCAR weekends on the first day.

Of course, most people were there strictly for the racing, and it did not disappoint. The majority of the Ford EcoBoost 200 was dominated by Kyle Larson, who took the pole position in mid afternoon qualifying. He led the event almost flag to flag, but Kyle Busch Motorsports had other plans, with Bubba Wallace taking the lead late and never looking back.

The event also saw Matt Crafton clinch his second NCWTS title in a row. Racing continues on Saturday with the NASCAR Nationwide Ford 300, and concludes with the Ford 400 on Sunday.
