Tyler Tanner sets out to fulfil dream with MB Motorsports at PIR

With engineering degree in hand, Tyler Tanner is set to fulfill his dream of a racing career in NASCAR. Tanner returns to MB Motorsports’ #36 Security Imaging / Papa Murphy’s / Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool / Squires Machining / Champion Spark Plug Chevy Silverado for his third series start. The Lucas Oil 150 will mark his first start at Phoenix International Raceway.

The Washington state native has strong ties to Arizona, as Tanner graduated last December from Arizona State University. “The ASU campus is located only about 30 minutes from the track, so it’s a homecoming of sorts for me,” says the 23 year old.

“What’s great about heading to Phoenix is being able to bring with me the sponsors that have supported my racing career up to this point, Security Imaging, Papa Murphy’s, Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool, Squires Machining, West Pacific Builders and Champion Spark Plugs,” says Tanner.

“We had a couple of good races with Tyler at Martinsville,” according to team owner Mike Mittler, who will also serve as crew chief for Tanner at PIR. “He’s a very adept at flat tracks like Phoenix and he just had a nice run in a K&N West Series race, so I think we’ll be good to go in the 36 truck.”

“I’ve been racing since I was four and a half years old and competing in NASCAR is what I have always wanted to do,” adds Tanner. “I just want to do my best for all our marketing partners and have a good race.”
