John Wes Townley piloting the No. 05 Zaxby’s Athenian Motorsports Toyota Tundra sets his sights on Talladega Superspeedway for the running of the Fred’s 250 Saturday, October 18, 2014.
Townley has three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts, with a best finish of 13th in the spring 2014 event at Talladega Superspeedway. He also has four ARCA Racing starts on the 2.66-mile Alabama race track, placing second in 2014 and three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts posting a seventh-place finish in 2013.
“We have a pretty good record here in Talladega,” John Wes Townley said. “I like Talladega, I like restrictor plate racing, but it is a definite crap shoot as far as where you finish. You really need some good drafting partners out there to keep you up towards the front. You never know when there could be one slipup and the field can get caught up in a wreck easily. We’ll go out there, play it smart, try to get some good drafting partners, and hopefully get a top-five finish for Zaxby’s and this Athenian Motorsports team.”
