NCWTS: Blaney Wins Michigan Pole

Ryan Blaney captured the pole this morning at the Michigan International Speedway by being the only truck to post a time in the final round of qualifying. Blaney posted a fast time of 41.582 seconds, 173.152 mph. The pole will mark the third of his career in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series and will be the seventh time this season that he has started from inside the top-10.

Joey Logano will start the Careers for Veterans 200 from the second starting spot. Because only one truck was able to post a time in the final round, NASCAR determined the rest of the positions by round two times. Logano’s fastest lap was 38.370 seconds, 187.647 mph. He will make his second NASCAR Camping World Truck series start of the 2014 season.

Timothy Peters, which posted a 38.370 seconds, 187.256 mph. in the second round of qualifying, will roll off in the third spot Saturday afternoon. This will be the seventh time of the year that he has started from inside the top-10. Peters goes into the Michigan International Speedway hoping to improve on his average finish of 13.6. He also goes into the event sitting eighth in the points standings.

Kyle Busch goes into today’s race hoping to capture his sixth win of the year. Busch isn’t contending for the series driver championship, but is still chasing an owners title. He will start the race from the 11th spot. Johnny Sauter sits second in the points standings and will roll off from the fifth spot. Sauter’s fast time was 38.480 seconds. His teammate, Matt Crafton, did not make the final round as he will start from 14th.

There were no on-track incidents during the entire three rounds of qualifying.  TJ Bell was the only truck to not post a time in the first round of qualifying. No drivers failed to qualify as only 29 showed up.
