NCWTS: Lofton Leads Second of the Three Practice Sessions at Gateway

Friday night at the Gateway Raceway, Justin Lofton led the second of the three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice sessions. Lofton posted a fast time of 32.906 seconds, 136.753 mph. Lofton shook down the No. 20 for Gray Gaulding who was in Florida with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. He will return in time to run in the final practice on Saturday morning.

Finishing in the second spot was Matt Crafton who posted the fast time of 32.953 seconds, 136.558 mph. Crafton ran a total of 40 laps of the evening with his best lap on his 11th of the day. He heads into the Drivin’ for Lineman 200 looking to capture his third career victory of the series. He was just 0.047 seconds behind the practice leader.

Rounding out the top-three was Cole Custer, who hopes to finally leave Gateway with his first top-10 finish in the series. He posted his fastest time on his fourth lap of the session with a 32.992 seconds, 136.397 mph. The 16-year-old has made two starts this year with his best finish coming at the Martinsville Speedway of 12th. That event also was his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut.

There was one incident late into the practice involving the No. 12 of Ted Minor over in turn four. The team was able to fix the damage to the truck to allow the Chevrolet to participate in the final practice session.
