David Starr to Make 275th Career NCWTS Start

Over the last fourteen seasons, David Starr has been become one of the most recognized and popular drivers in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Thursday night the smiling Texan will reach a milestone in the NCWTS, as he will mark his 275th career start in the series, the sixth most in truck series history.

AkzoNobel, the largest global supplier of paints and coatings will be featured on the hood of Starr’s SS Green Light Racing No. 81 Toyota this week in the UNHO 225 at the Kentucky Speedway along with ASI Limited and associate sponsorship from Zachry.

The veteran driver is also closing in on another milestone, as the mid-week affair at Kentucky is also the 198th consecutive start for Starr that dates back to July of 2003.

“Man, I’m just excited to get back to the track. It’s just awesome that I have been able to run that many races in the truck series,” said Starr. “It’s such a great thing to make a living doing what you love and to have all the support I have had over the years.”

“It’s great to have a company of the caliber of AkzoNobel on our truck this week. It’s a big honor to represent them along with ASI Limited and Zachry as well. Our Tundra will have a little different look this week we really want to run good for AkzoNobel as we do for all our sponsors, we’re looking forward to a great race.”

“We’ve had a big break and that was good for the guys on our team to get a chance to catch up at the shop and let people spend a little time with their families. Now its time to get back to racing,” Starr continued. “It’s time to get some momentum on our side and get some good finishes like we know we can.”

“Kentucky has always been a good track for us and with the equipment and the people we have on this team we are capable of running good. We’ve just had some different circumstances that have keep us from running as good as we can,” David continued. “So during the time off we did a little testing at Gresham and we took some time to work on our Toyota trucks. We’re excited to get to Kentucky and getting some more truck races under our belt.”

“It’s kind of unique to run on Thursday night, but it gives the guys a chance to get back home and spend another weekend at with their families before they get ready to head to Iowa.”

Through his fourteen-year career in the NCWTS, Kentucky Speedway is one of the most successful tracks for David.
