It was announced this week that Brandon Jones will return to Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) for the 2014 season. Jones will compete full time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) in the No. 33 Chevrolet Impala and run seven races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) driving the No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado for TSM. Jones made a total of seven NKNPSE starts and three NCWTS starts for the organization in 2013.
“It’s a pleasure to have Brandon [Jones] back behind the wheel of our race vehicles in 2014,” said Steve Turner, co-owner of Turner Scott Motorsports. “Brandon really showed us some promise last year, and I feel like with some more seat time and by working with Shane [Huffman] and Mike [Greci], that he’ll develop into a great racecar driver.”
2013 was a busy year for Jones, having competed in a wide variety of racing series. Along with his NKNPSE and NCWTS races, Jones had nine starts in the UARA-Stars Late Model Stock Tour where he earned eight top-10 finishes. Jones, who turns 17 in February, will challenge for Rookie of the Year honors in the NKNPSE while continuing to fine-tune his skills by running a Super Late Model entry for TSM as his schedule permits. TSM will continue developing Jones in the NCWTS under the guidance of K&N Division competition director Mike Greci and crew chief Shane Huffman. Jones will run a total of seven NCWTS races at tracks under 1.5 miles, beginning with the Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway on March 29.
“After the 2013 season and watching Brandon Jones run in multiple series with us, I think he has great potential for this year,” said Greci. “He adapted very well to the radial tire and we’re happy to have him running at TSM full time this season.”
In its first year of competition in the NKNPSE, TSM captured six wins and three poles en route to its championship with Dylan Kwasniewski behind the wheel.
“I’m really thrilled about returning to Turner Scott Motorsports,” said Jones. “There’s no place I would rather be. They have all the tools that will allow me to develop as a racecar driver and they have the track record of success to go along with it. Mr. Turner, Mike and Shane have built a great team to support me in all the different series that I’ll compete in, so I’m confident about 2014. My goal is to bring home solid finishes for my team and sponsors. I’m looking forward to running for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Rookie of the Year.”
Jones will start the 2014 NKNPSE season at New Smyrna Speedway in the New Smyrna 150 on February 16 and at Daytona International Speedway in the UNOH Battle at the Beach on February 18.
