Race fans anxious for the return of the famous black No. 3 in Bristol will want to take advantage of a special ticket package from Bristol Motor Speedway and Richard Childress Racing for the Wednesday, Aug. 24 O’Reilly Auto Parts 200/UNOH Perfect Storm 150 doubleheader.
Austin Dillon, who will pilot his No. 3 Bass Pro Shops truck in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200, is featured in the package which includes a ticket to the races, a special Austin Dillon No. 3 hat and an exclusive Q & A session with the driver in the BMS Hospitality Village prior to the event, all for just $33.
Dillon followers, or supporters of the black No. 3, will appreciate the tough, door-slamming action for which the Camping World Truck Series is known. Add the Dillon hat and an opportunity to take part in a Q & A session with the up-and-coming star and this is one ticket package die-hard fans will not want to pass up.
Dillon, who has two career Truck Series wins and is set for a climb through NASCAR’s ranks (he makes his Sprint Cup Series debut later this year), said having a ticket package featuring him in Bristol provides extra motivation to do well.
“Truck series races at Bristol are exciting and some of the toughest we have,” Dillon explained, “so it’s an honor to have a ticket package named after me there, because that’s what I like—tough racing.”
“Our shop is less than three hours from Bristol, and we get a lot of support from the whole area, so I hope everyone comes out to sit in the Austin Dillon section on August 24. I also can’t wait to hang out and talk with fans during the Q & A session before the race.”
While Dillon has already seen success behind the wheel of a black No. 3, he knows it pales in comparison to those who have come before him, including the Intimidator himself.
“I feel fortunate to be running the No. 3,” Dillon said. “The man who made it famous was Dale Earnhardt, and I respect that. Mike Skinner had a lot of success in the truck series with it, and I hope I can continue that.
“There’s been mostly good reaction to me driving with the three. Fans are glad to see it back out on the track and I have a lot of fun driving it. I’m trying to win with it. That’s the biggest thing. If we go out and run well, the fans are going to love it.”
BMS and the black No. 3 have shared many memorable moments through the years, and Dillon hopes to add to the list. He may not have a lot of experience at “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile,” but he already has a game plan on how to notch his first win in Bristol.
“I think Bristol will be really tough,” he admitted. “The track reminds me of Bulls Gap, which is just down the road from Bristol. I have a lot of laps there and I think my dirt track racing experience helps. You have to move around a lot at Bristol since there are several lines around the track. I think having a dirt track racing background will be helpful for that.”
Fans interested in purchasing the special Austin Dillon package, priced at $33, can do so by calling the BMS ticket office at (423) 989-6900. Children 12 and under can take in the excitement of the Wednesday night doubleheader, featuring NASCAR’s future stars, for free.
