Timothy Peters Red Horse Racing Texas Motor Speedway Team Advance

MONKEY OFF YOUR BACK: The Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team has proven their speed on the intermediate program over the past few seasons, but it wasn’t until Las Vegas Motor Speedway where Timothy Peters captured the organization’s first 1.5-mile victory. Now that the team has the monkey off their back, it’s go time. As one of the most important NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victories for both the No. 17 Parts Plus Tundra driver and the Red Horse Racing organization, the team is anxious to return to Texas Motor Speedway.

With 11 previous starts at the 1.5-mile Speedway, Peters has collected two top-10 finishes and has an average starting position of 15.5 with an average finishing position of 15.3. A special victory for Peters would be to back up his most recent victory and collect the checkered flag during the 147-lap WinStar World Casino 350.

PARTS PLUS: After celebrating Timothy Peters’ first victory on an intermediate track, Parts Plus returns to the No. 17 Toyota Tundra this weekend at the 1.5-mile track of Texas Motor Speedway. The Memphis-based warehouse distributor originated more than 56 years ago tracing back to a series of jobber programs. Since 2005, Parts Plus has been a member of the Automotive Distribution Network that has over 300 member distributors under five brand names and from over 400 separate warehouses across the United States, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico. CHASSIS HISTORY: When you finally capture your first 1.5-mile victory you want a Toyota Tundra that you are comfortable with. Timothy Peters and his No. 17 Parts Plus team will bring winning Chassis No. 010 to Texas Motor Speedway. Chassis No. 010 captured Peters’ second win at Iowa Speedway and has two sixth-place finishes (Kentucky Speedway, Dover International Speedway) and a 10th at Kansas Speedway earlier this year. Peters also captured a second-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway after dominating the second half of the race.

REARVIEW MIRROR – MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY: Timothy Peters came to Martinsville Speedway which is just a chip shot away from his hometown of Danville, Virginia with high hopes having captured the pole in last year’s race. He qualified the No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra in 10th place. Peters let the dust settle at the front of the field when the green flag waved, but soon started to move through the pack and by lap 20 was in sixth. At the lap 77 restart the field checked up, leaving Peters to make contact with the truck in front of him. This caused the hood to release requiring him to drive blind back to the pit where the Parts Plus team pulled out all the equipment to get the truck back out on the track. The damage resulted in an ill-handling Tundra and a disappointing 26th place finish at race’s end.

Timothy Peters on Texas Motor Speedway:

How do you feel returning to a 1.5-mile track after checking off the intermediate win off your list?

“It feels really good. We finally feel like we have the monkey off our back and know that we can win on a 1.5-mile track. It would feel even better if we were about to go back-to-back on a 1.5-mile track and win this weekend at Texas. We got to test there in our Parts Plus Tundra earlier this year and just missed it by a little. Hopefully we can give our Red Horse Racing team something to brag about as we close out on the season.

The race at Texas Motor Speedway is 20 laps shorter than in the spring. How do you prepare for the change?

“The truck will drive different during this race because the temperature is so different than in the spring. Your driving style stays the same, and there isn’t too much that you change with race strategy. We are going to go out there like we do week in and week out and try to win us some six shooters.”
