David Starr Carries Momentum to Charlotte

Four races into the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season David Starr found himself in a very unusual position of being outside the top-fifteen in the drivers point standings with some bad racing luck resulting in torn-up race trucks and disappointing finishes. Just two races later Starr and the SS Green Light team have righted the ship and Starr is now knocking on the top-ten in the standings, just two points behind Brendan Gaughan for tenth spot.

Star and the Jason Miller led team hope to continue to build that momentum on Friday night when the NCWTS North Carolina Education Lottery 200 kicks off one of the most exciting weekends of the year; the Sprint Cup All Star Weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Friday night the Build Your Future Campaign will join primary sponsor Zachry on the decklid of Starr’s No. 81 Toyota. Originally developed by the National Construction Center for Education and Research, Build Your Future is a national education and recruitment campaign created to increase awareness of the rewarding careers available in the construction industry.

“It’s pretty cool to be involved with NCCER and the Build Your Future Campaign which gives opportunities to youngsters and people wanting to come into the construction industry. We’re excited that they have partnered with SS Green Light Racing and Zachry. We’re going to do everything we can to get the Zachry/BYF Toyota into victory lane for them, I’m excited and looking forward to helping NCCER get involved in NASCAR racing.”

The Charlotte race is always special one for all of the NASCAR teams as the majority of them are located within an hour of the racetrack and the teams will be racing in front of dozens of friends and family. “Everybody want to do well because your right here at home, it’s good for the guys to not have the stress of being on the road,” said Crew Chief Miller. “The race track is only 15 minutes from my house.”

“It’s always fun to go to the Charlotte Motor Speedway,” added Starr. “It’s right in the backyard of all the NASCAR teams so it’s pretty cool for all the guys on our SS Green Light/Zachry team who get to bring their family members the track and when they leave the race they get to sleep in their own bed. It’s a fun event for the team.”

“At Charlotte you need a good handling truck with plenty of power under the hood which we do with Arrington Engines. There is always a lot of action at Charlotte Motor Speedway especially with the Truck Series.”

“I feel like we have a lot of momentum and we are going to carry it into Charlotte. You know, it’s been a long time since we have been on a mile and a half, it’s a fast track and I like to go fast!”

In eight career NCWTS starts at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, David has one pole, one top-fives and three top-tens. He has completed 99.4% of the laps with an average start of 16.6 and an average finish of 15.1.

The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 is the 252nd consecutive NCWTS start for the SS Green Light Racing team and the 272nd career start for Starr in the Truck Series.
