Ragan Heads to New Hampshire with Progress in Mind

Preparing to make his 201st NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this weekend, David Ragan takes the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the running of the Lenox Industrial Tools 301.  Ragan has a career best finish of seventh in his previous 10 starts at the one-mile oval.

Ragan comes to New Hampshire sitting 29th in championship points chasing Mark Martin and Casey Mears in front of them.  The team hopes to use the second half of the season to get closer to the top-25 in the final standings.

David Ragan on New Hampshire and Goals Ahead:

“Our team is looking for a strong run this weekend at New Hampshire.  This track is unlike anywhere else we race.  It is essentially flat. A lot of people say it drives more like a road course than an oval because of its low banking.  It’s a challenge for a lot of teams, but it’s also a place where we can have a good finish by working hard on our car.

We seem to be picking up speed each week and now we need to turn them into better results.  The past six weeks we’ve been just outside that top-25 mark.  Now, we need to hit on it each week.  We’re an improving program, no doubt. I can see the progress, but we need to take that next step.

Jay Guy Discusses Team Goals:

“I think David is right, we’ve shown speed the past two months. We’re getting better as a team, but now we just need to get more top-25 finishes and higher.  It’s a matter of staying out of trouble, racing smart and taking advantage of track position to lead a lap or something like that. We’re well capable of ending up in the top-25 when the year is out.”
