Roush Fenway Continues Daytona Dominance; Sweeps Poles

Roush Fenway Racing continued its recent dominance at Daytona International Speedway, with Matt Kenseth and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.  winning the poles for both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup events. Roush Fenway has now swept both Sprint Cup poles at Daytona in 2012. Kenseth will look to become the first driver in 30 years to win both Sprint Cup events at DIS in the same season, while Stenhouse Jr. looks to become the first RFR driver to win a NNS race at Daytona.

Kenseth turned a fast lap of 46.78 (192.386 mph) around the 2.5-mile tri-oval to win the pole. Stenhouse turned a lap of 50.775 (177.253 mph) to capture Roush Fenway’s first Nationwide Series pole at Daytona. RFR has now won both Sprint Cup poles, swept the Daytona 500 front row, won a Gatorade Duel qualifying race and captured the Daytona 500 this season at DIS. Kenseth has now won the Daytona 500, the Gatorade Duel and the Coke Zero pole in 2012.

Greg Biffle qualified fifth for the Sprint Cup race, with Carl Edwards turning in the 13th fastest time. Roush Fenway driver Trevor Bayne – driving the No. 21 Wood Brothers’ Ford – qualified 16th for Saturday nights event.
