PODS Moving & Storage to Join Military Salutes Campaign at Bristol Motor Speedway

PODS Moving & Storage has joined the Rick Ware Racing Military Salutes campaign this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. PODS will donate $5.40 for every lap completed by the No. 54 Chevrolet in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race. In addition, Rick Ware and Belmont Classic Cars will be matching the total donation from PODS. The money will be donated to the family of SGT Slape, in the building of a Gold Star Monument in Carteret County, NC.

SGT Slape, a Morehead City, NC native, was assigned to the NC Army National Guard’s 60th Troop Command, 430th Explosive Ordinance Company, based in Washington, NC. On October 4, 2018, SGT Slape paid the ultimate sacrifice after being wounded by an IED in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan. SGT Slape was honored on the No. 52 RWR Chevrolet in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Memorial Day weekend.

As part of the Military Salutes campaign, Belmont Classic Cars, the primary partner on the No. 52 Chevrolet driven by Kyle Weatherman, teamed up with Nine Line Apparel to create a limited-edition t-shirt to raise money for the Gold Star Families Monument in Carteret County, honoring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in war, and their families. Through that initiative, $5150 will be donated.

“I am honored to be part of such a special military salutes campaign this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway,” commented team owner Rick Ware. “SGT Slape paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy what we do every weekend. To have his family out here at the track and be part of this weekend is very special.”

“It’s a humbling privilege for PODS to participate in a small way to honor our brave soldiers, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice in serving our great country,” said David Redmond, Senior Vice President of Marketing for PODS. “In honor of Sgt. James Slape and all Gold Star Families, PODS will match Owner Rick Ware’s $5.40 per lap donation to the Carteret County NC Gold Star Families Memorial Monument.”

“Belmont Classic Cars is honored to be part of honoring SGT Slape at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. SGT Slape paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and we could not think of a better way to honor his memory than to raise money to build the Gold Star Family Monument,” said Andy Mistak, owner of Belmont Classic Cars.
