NASCAR Hall of Fame kicks off May race weeks with special events and activities for fans

May is an exciting time for racing in the Queen City and beyond. Along with the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race, Coca-Cola 600, Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola and more, the NASCAR Hall of Fame will be offering special experiences for fans and visitors throughout the month.

“The month of May is a special time for the NASCAR Hall of Fame and for the sport as a whole,” said Winston Kelley, executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “We always strive to provide new and memorable experiences for guests each time they visit, and with the launch of our new RCR exhibit, the Class of 2020 announcement, Member Appreciation Month and more, there are so many opportunities for fans to immerse themselves in the sport and for visitors to have a special experience at the Hall this month.” 

This May, in addition to experiencing all of NASCAR Hall of Fame’s ever-evolving exhibits and interactive experiences like the realistic racing simulators and pit crew challenge, guests will have the opportunity to be among the first to see the brand new “RCR 50: Only in America” exhibit, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of Richard Childress Racing. 

Below is information on all of the high-octane activities and events coming up this month at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. 

MEMBER APPRECIATION MONTH
All month
During the month of May, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is celebrating Member Appreciation Month with a variety of events and activities, including a chance for members to: 

  • Meet the Exhibits Team to check out the new items that have come to the Hall
  • Get a first look at the new “RCR 50: Only in America” exhibit
  • Participate in a members-only autograph session with the newly announced Class of 2020*
  • Compete in the members-only iRacing Series

RACING INSIDERS TOURS
Various dates throughout the month
The Racing Insiders Tour is an in-depth tour in and around Charlotte’s racing community. Offering two different routes, the tour starts at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and then participants hop on a motorcoach to visit various race shops and local racing attractions. This all-inclusive package covers lunch, complimentary parking, associated admission costs for the day of the tour, plus admission to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and unlimited simulator rides for another day of your choice to be used within 90 days. This month, several special Racing Insiders Tours will be available for fans including a Tour 85 and Tour 77. CONCACAF GOLD CUP TROPHY TOUR STOP
Friday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Leading up to the Concacaf Gold Cup doubleheader soccer match coming to Charlotte Sunday, June 23, the nationwide Gold Cup Trophy Tour will be making a stop in Charlotte including a visit to the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza, where visitors can interact and take photos with the trophy and even have a chance to win tickets to the match.

MILITARY APPRECIATION DAYS PRESENTED BY TOYOTA
Saturday, May 18 – Monday, May 27
From May 18 to 27 leading up to Memorial Day, the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Toyota are honored to offer all active, reserve, veteran and retired military personnel complimentary admission and unlimited simulator rides with a valid military ID while supplies last. ATLANTA BRAVES Q&A WITH BOBBY LABONTE
Tuesday, May 21 from 4 to 5 p.m.
The Atlanta Braves will make a pit stop in Charlotte as part of their “Braves Country Road Trip” to visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Braves alumni Ryan Klesko will join former NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte for a Q&A panel discussion in the High Octane Theater that is open to the public with an admission ticket to the Hall. 

CLASS OF 2020 VOTING DAY AND ANNOUNCEMENT
Wednesday, May 22 at 5 p.m.
The NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel will meet in Charlotte to determine the five members of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2020 as well as the recipient of the 2020 Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR. Media and the public are invited to join members of the Voting Panel, NASCAR legends and other fans in the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Great Hall for the official announcement. Fans still have time to lock in their votes for the legends they think should be in the Class of 2020 by submitting a fan vote on nascarhall.com/inductees/fanvote by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 20. The top five nominees with the most fan votes will be cast as the final ballot on Voting Day. 

“RCR 50: ONLY IN AMERICA” EXHIBIT
Opens Friday, May 24 (soft opening May 17 to 20)
Fans are invited to get a sneak peek at the brand new special exhibit, “RCR 50: Only in America” ahead of its official opening on Friday, May 24. This exhibit will honor the 50th anniversary of Richard Childress Racing. Using artifacts, photos and race cars, this limited-time exhibit chronicles the story of Richard Childress Racing, long one of NASCAR’s elite teams. The exhibit celebrates five decades of RCR’s success, honoring the accomplishments of 2017 Hall of Famer Richard Childress, his family, his team members and the many people who helped build a NASCAR dynasty. SPECIAL HOURS
To accommodate the adrenaline-pumping action and thousands of fans coming to town this month, the NASCAR Hall of Fame will also offer special extended hours during race week. The NASCAR Hall of Fame Gear Shop will also be open these extended hours.

Saturday, May 18: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
Sunday, May 19: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Coca-Cola 600 Race Weekend
Saturday, May 25: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
