Penalties Announced Following Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway

All three of NASCAR’s National Series returned to action at Daytona International Speedway over the weekend. The events, at the 2.5-mile oval in Daytona Beach, FL., provided exciting action on-track all weekend long.

NASCAR released the penalty report following Speedweeks at Daytona on Wednesday afternoon. The only infraction listed occurred in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage with driver Ben Rhodes.

Crew chief Eddie Troconis, leading the No. 41 Ford F-150 team driven by Ben Rhodes, has been fined $5,000 and suspended from the next Camping World Truck Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway for violating section 20.17.3.2.2.2 (Post-Race Rear Body Inspection Heights Note: Post-Race height measurements were outside NASCAR allowed tolerances.) The team will also lose 10 driver and owner points as a result of the L1 penalty.

On Saturday, in the NASCAR XFINITY Series garage, two teams had crew members ejected ahead of the Power Shares QQQ 300. The No. 74 Dodge driven by Mike Harmon failed four times going through NASCAR’s new Optical Scanning Station during pre-qualifying inspection. Austin Dillon’s No. 3 Chevrolet was found with a rear suspension violation also discovered during pre-qualifying inspection. The crew chief of the No. 74 Dodge, Robert Scott, and No. 3 crew chief Nicholas Harrison along with car chief Michael Scearce, were each ejected ahead of the 300-mile event.

Since these violations were found ahead of the race, and not afterwards, neither NASCAR XFINITY Series teams will face suspensions this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

There were no infractions discovered over the weekend in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage.
