Biffle Finishes 17th in Season Finale Ford EcoBoost 400 in Miami

Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Roush Performance Parts Ford to a 17th-place finish Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.  Biffle started the race 21st and suffered from an electrical short, resulting in multiple battery changes during the race.  Despite the electrical issue Biffle was able to cross the finish line 17th in the 2016 season finale.

Over the first green flag run the No. 16 Roush Performance Parts Ford was a little too tight.  A shim and wedge adjustment on the first caution improved the handling and Biffle was able to make up multiple positions on the track before the tight handling returned.

Early on in the race Biffle reported back to his team he had a “miss” with his car and knew something wasn’t right.  Biffle flipped between his primary and backup battery, while shutting down all unnecessary power draws in the car to try and keep voltage up.

Biffle went a lap down to the leaders with the electrical miss and the tight-handling condition, ultimately leading to a visit to pit road to have the batteries swapped out under caution on lap 82.  Unfortunately, the “miss” continued and in addition to that Biffle struggled to find grip on the track.

Under caution on lap 210 Biffle once again visited pit road for four tires, chassis adjustments and another battery change.  Biffle took the green flag restart with 10 to go from the 25th position when a huge wreck unfolded with the leaders, resulting in an extended red flag cleanup.

Another caution followed shortly after the red flag lifted, setting the field up for a green-white-checkered finish.  Biffle took the green from the 18th position and gained one position to cross the finish line 17th.
