Biffle’s Brickyard Hopes Cut Short by Flat Tire

Greg Biffle’s dream of kissing the bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway were cut short by a flat right-front tire Sunday afternoon at the Brickyard.  Biffle was steadily making gains with his No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford when the flat tire sent him hard into the outside wall, resulting in a 39th-place finish.

“We blew a right-front tire and went straight into the fence,” said Biffle.  “We were either real loose or real tight, and we just couldn’t get the balance right.  We’ve just got to get them to turn a little better.  I don’t know what happened.  The right-front went down at the end of the straightaway.  That’s the worst possible place, but unfortunately it happened.”

Greg Biffle qualified his No. 16 Performance Plus Motor Oil Ford 19th for the yearly NASCAR visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  From the drop of the green flag Biffle gained some ground but needed more front turn.  One the first pit stop his team serviced his Ford with four tires and a wedge adjustment.

Front turn continued to be an issue for Biffle, and there were handling adjustments planned for the next pit stop, but they didn’t make it that far.  On lap 53 Biffle blew a right front tire, sending him into the outside wall hard, ending their day early and resulting in a 39th-place finish.
