Biffle Earns Top-10 Finish in the KFC Ford at Kentucky Speedway

With Colonel Sanders on board at Kentucky Speedway, Greg Biffle was able to stretch his fuel to the end to cross the finish line sixth in his No. 16 KFC Ford.  The finish marks back-to-back top-10 finishes for Biffle who was a constant factor in the top 10 throughout the 167-lap race.

Rain was a factor on Thursday, shortening practice for the Sprint Cup Series.  NASCAR opted to swap qualifying for practice time, which set the field by points and lined Biffle up 23rd.

The newly repaved track surface proved to be a challenge for the field right from the drop of the green flag.  The first caution came just over 10 laps into the race.  The team opted to stay out and wait to pit until the scheduled competition caution on lap 25.

Biffle pitted under the competition caution for four tires and fuel, while many other competitors just took two tires.  With the new track surface, it quickly became apparent that tire position was much more important than four tires.

The No. 16 KFC Ford was a solid presence in the top 10 a majority of the 267-lap race, but as the laps wound down it turned into a fuel mileage finish.  Many competitors had to visit pit road for fuel, while some tried to save.  Biffle once again showed off his fuel saving skills, saving enough to earn the sixth-place finish.
