The Loomis, Calif. native qualified sixth and immediately progressed forward into the top-five in the opening laps and ran as high as fourth by lap 18. Heavy lapped traffic briefly stifled his advancement on lap 39 but regained the fifth position prior to the halfway caution on lap 77.
Wood’s early run speed was evident on the lap 96 restart as he vaulted from sixth to fourth by utilizing the outside lane. As the final 55 laps ran under the green flag, Wood maintained his top-five position to record his second-straight fifth-place finish.
Jack Wood Quote:
“Our NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet was pretty well balanced. We just lacked a little bit of long-run speed. We’ve definitely improved our package this year, but still need a little extra to maintain pace on the long runs. We have one more shot at it this year, but it’s nice to be stacking consistent top five’s. Hopefully we can end things with a win at Phoenix in a couple weeks.”
