Team Work Helps Austin Dillon Earn Career-Best NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Finish in Dow Energy and Water Intellifresh Russell Chevrolet

“I had a really good run. My car was actually dragging enough from damage from an earlier wreck that the No. 1 could stick to my bumper and he gave me a heck of a push all the way through turns three and four. When he did that, I knew that we were going to have a shot at the win but as soon as I pulled out my car kind of became a parachute. I knew I had to take a shot at it though. I wanted to have a shot to win. Hats off to these guys. They fought so hard today. We made 15 pit stops. That’s amazing. The car was killed and to come home with a top-three finish is just amazing. This Dow Energy and Water Intellifresh team never panicked today. We’ve panicked a lot this year in certain situations and today was smooth and calm. They handled every situation they were put through. It was team work.”

Paul Menard Races in the Top-Three Before Getting Collected in The Big One at Talladega Superspeedway

“We got wrecked early in the race in what I guess was the first big accident. We were racing up front too, so that makes it worse. The No. 48 just came across our nose and then the car got pretty beat up. We could still make some runs after making repairs on pit road. It wasn’t great, but I think we were up there in the top 15 before the next big one. I’m not sure what happened at the end, but we got collected and it ended our day just a few laps early. Typical restrictor-plate racing.”

Ryan Newman Limps Home to 28th-Place Finish After Being Collected in Multiple-Car Crash at Talladega Superspeedway

“We did what we needed to do. We raced a strategy we felt comfortable with. We dodged as many accidents as we could. We made the move when it was time to go and got caught up in the big wreck. The Caterpillar Chevrolet raced up into the top 10 and when we were wrecked, the team did the best they could to get us back out so we could finish the race. I’m happy to see one of our wrecked cars rebound to finish third. At some point our luck will change. Despite our finishes, our RCR Chevrolets are an improvement from last year and I want to thank everyone who works on our cars. We just need to keep working hard. Our luck will change.”
