Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing Disappointed with Richmond Finish

Monday, Apr 25 1465
Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing faced another challenging weekend at a short track as the team was unable to find the proper handling of their No. 95 WRL General Contractors Chevrolet SS and had to settle for a 31st place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway yesterday.

Driver Michael McDowell qualified 32nd for the event, and raced between the 29th and 35th positions for the majority of the 300-mile race.  McDowell reported loose conditions with the car and the need for “more drive off” as crew chief Dave Winston and the No. 95 team made changes throughout the day.

“The team fought hard, but the adjustments just didn’t help enough to secure a Top-25 finish for our team,” said Jeremy Lange, Vice President of CSLFR.  “It was a disappointing week for our team as we are expecting more out of ourselves. We are not content with finishing where we have been these last two weeks and we will be working harder to improve.”

Next up for the team will be Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday.  The team secured a 15th place finish in the Daytona 500 and will be taking the same car to Talladega for the second superspeedway race of the season.

“Talladega can certainly be a place where our luck can change,” said Lange.  “But it can also go the other way as well. So, you can’t get too excited.  It will be a welcomed change to race at a superspeedway where we know we can perform well.”

The GEICO 500 will take place at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, May 1.  Follow the team on Twitter at @CSLFR95 for updates.
