NCS: Bubba Wallace earns pole for Sunday’s regular season finale at Darlington

Bubba Wallace will start Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Southern 500 from the pole after posting the fastest lap in qualifying.

Sunday’s Southern 500 will mark the end of the regular season as the playoff grind will be set and 16 drivers will race for the championship in the final 10 races of the season.

Bubba Wallace, who will start Sunday’s race from the pole will need to have a good night as he currently sits 21 points below the cutoff line behind Chris Buescher.

“I think the pressure just switched,” Bubba Wallace said post-qualifying referring to the pressure he has for running for the final playoff spot.

Chris Buescher, who holds the final playoff spot will start from the 22nd position on Sunday.

Carson Hocevar, who will start second earned his career-best starting position.

Chase Briscoe will start third, Kyle Larson in fourth and Martin Truex Jr. in fifth.
