Bayne Finished 18th in 2015 Season Finale at Homestead

Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, earned an 18th-place finish on Sunday afternoon at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season finale.

“We had a fast AdvoCare Ford today,” said Bayne after the race. “We were able to race our way up into the top 10 at one point and really make up ground on the top. I hate that we got into the wall a little bit. But I just want to thank everyone on this team for this season. We learned a lot and grew together. I’m very appreciative of all of their hard work and am excited about our future looking ahead to next year.”

Bayne began the 267-Lap event from the 26th position and wasted little time working his way forward, racing his way up to the 10th position by the competition caution on Lap 30. During the competition caution, crew chief Bob Osborne called the driver of the AdvoCare Ford to pit road for four tires and a chassis adjustment to try to help alleviate a loose handling condition.

The Knoxville, Tenn. native returned to the track in the 10th position for the ensuing restart and continued to battle for position inside the top 15 until the caution came out once again on Lap 45. During this caution, Bayne reported that his Roush Fenway Ford was still loose through the corners.

Taking the Lap 53 restart in 13th, Bayne continued to battle for position before settling in to the 18th position during the long green flag run that followed. As the green flag run progressed, the loose handling condition worsened as Bayne made slight contact with the outside retaining wall, ultimately affecting the handling of the AdvoCare Ford.

Despite the contact with the wall, Bayne maintained his track position throughout much of the middle portion of the event. In the closing stages, Bayne utilized a never gave up attitude to race his way into position to take the wave around and get back onto the lead lap during a late race caution.

Going green for the final time on Lap 260, Bayne battled for several laps with Ryan Blaney before taking the checkered flag for the final time in 2015 in the 18th position.

Next up for the NSCS is the Holiday Season followed by Speedweeks 2016.
