Biffle Finishes 21st in No. 16 Safety-Kleen Ford Fusion at Chicago

Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Safety-Kleen Ford Fusion to a 21st-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.  Biffle started 17th but battled turn throughout the race.  At one point Biffle brushed the outside wall while searching for grip but the damage wasn’t severe.  The team made gains on handling and Biffle was able to make up a few positions in the closing laps.

With rain on the way Friday afternoon, the team focused on knocking out a fast lap in practice since it seemed as if qualifying would get rained out.  Mother Nature stayed true to her course and the starting lineup was set by practice speeds setting Biffle up 17th.

Biffle lost positions in the opening long green flag run with no grip in traffic.  After a pit stop for air pressure, wedge and to remove a shim handling improved but still wasn’t enough.

The 267-lap race saw long green flag runs and minimal opportunities for adjustments.  The No. 16 team took advantage of each pit stop and made gains on handling.  Biffle brushed the wall with around 30 laps to go, but luckily the damage didn’t hurt the No. 16 Safety-Kleen Ford.  Biffle was able to visit pit around when he was normally scheduled to pit and was able to gain a few positions in the closing laps to earn a 21st-place finish.
