NSCS: Denny Hamlin Captures IRWIN Tools Night Race Pole

Denny Hamlin will start on the pole at the Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday for the IRWIN Tools Night race. Hamlin posted a time and speed of 14.602 seconds, 131.401 mph. in the final round to break the previous track record. Hamlin will start on the pole for the 22nd time of his Sprint Cup Series career.

Kyle Busch will take the green flag right beside his teammate in second. Busch posted a time and speed of 14.618 seconds, 131.263 mph. on his sixth lap around the 0.533-mile oval. The Las Vegas native will make his third top five start of the season on Saturday.

Taking the green flag in third will be Carl Edwards in his No. 19 Toyota Camry. Edwards posted his fast time of 14.686 seconds, 130.655 mph. on his fourth trip around the track in the final round. The Missouri native comes into the weekend looking to capture his second win of the year.

The two Penske Racing drivers will start in the sixth and seventh starting positions. Logano and Keselowski come into the weekend with momentum after securing wins in the past at Bristol.

Jeff Gordon will start his final race at the Bristol Motor Speedway in the 24th spot. Gordon barely made the final round after posting the 21st fastest time in round one. The Indiana native did not advance into the final round.

There were no incidents throughout the three rounds of Sprint Cup Series qualifying.

Missing the race will be Jeb Burton, Travis Kvapil and Reed Sorenson.
