Lira Hopes To Celebrate His Birthday In Victory Lane At Iowa Speedway

Port Orange, Florida racer Michael Lira turns 18 on Thursday, July 16th. He would like nothing more than to celebrate his birthday in Victory Lane after the #ThisIsMySpeedway150 at Iowa Speedway the following day!

As an 18-year old, Michael will now be eligible to compete at all of the tracks on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The #ThisIsMySpeedway150 will only be Michael’s 8th ARCA Racing Series race of the 2015 season. His age prevented him from racing in four events on the series schedule earlier this year; Daytona, Talladega, Michigan and Chicagoland.

Even with four fewer races that the series points leaders, Michael finds himself at 15th in the overall driver points standings entering Friday’s event. He will try to race his way in to the top ten, behind the wheel of his No. 58 Momo / Ford Performance / TraqGear Ford Fusion, in the final nine races of the season.

Michael Lira on racing at Iowa Speedway: “I was at the most recent ARCA Series Iowa  race in 2013 – it was my first race on a track bigger than a half mile. Every track that I’ve come back to this year we’ve been faster than before, so I’m really looking forward to this weekend!”

On-track schedule: The ARCA Racing Series drivers will practice, qualify and race on Friday, July 17th. Practice is scheduled from 11:15am-12:45pm Central, followed by Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell at 4:00pm Central. The start of the Iowa ARCA 150 is set for 8:00pm Central.

The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 8:00pm Central. Arcaracing.com will also have live timing and scoring for all on-track activity.
